What is Alfa Romeo's best selling model?

Alfa Romeo Giulia

The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia has pushed its way to the front of the class. It is now in the top ten sedans sold in Europe. The sedan shared space on the list with brands such as Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, BMW, and Audi. The sedan was recently introduced to the United States and quickly began building a head of steam here. A look at its award shelf demonstrates how well received this luxury car is.

Motor Trend named the Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2018 Car of the Year. The critics liked its unique level of Italian craftsmanship. In fact, it was the first year an Italian design had ever won the prestigious award in its 70-year history. Judges liked its state-of-the-art technology, its performance, and the way it encourages a true passion for driving. The Giulia’s 50/50 weight distribution is accomplished in part by its special rear-wheel-drive Giorgio drive shaft. Another important element is its carbon fiber driveshaft and lightweight build. After many tests drive on three separate courses and comparing it to other leading contenders, the Judges declared it the new ultimate driving machine. They added that it is perhaps the finest driving sedan on the market.

Giulia sedans offer a class-leading 280 horsepower engine. An eight-speed automatic transmission controls its generous 306 lb.-ft. of torque. This turbo has a maximum speed of 149 miles per hour. It runs the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.1 seconds. Holding the title as the halo model, the Giulia Quadrifoglio cuts the sprint time to 3.8 seconds. The car generates 505 horsepower with its twin-turbo V6 engine. Drivers command 443 lb.-ft. of torque and can hit speeds of up 191 mph on the track.

Car and Driver Magazine has recognized the Giulia, naming it to the annual 10 Best Cars for 2018. Judges praised its high-fidelity steering and easy-to-grip thin steering wheel. They recommended both the Giulia and Giulia Quadrifoglio as good examples of dynamic excellence. The reviewers like the restraint the automaker has shown on satisfying the human behind the wheel.

The sedan won Best New Luxury Car at the Car Connection and at the New York Daily News. It earned a spot on the Best Cars We Drove List at Jalopnik. Popular Mechanics gave it a Super Sedan Automotive Excellence Award. Wards Auto put the car on its 10 Best Interiors List.

Despite its speedy nature, the car has earned a Top Safety Pick Plus designation. The sedan had no trouble achieving the top rating in all five crash tests. It also got a superior rating for its Forward Collision Warning-Plus with Automatic Emergency Braking. The car offers Adaptive Cruise Control which can come to a full stop when needed and resume driving as traffic allows. A lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring strengthen its crash avoidance capability. Auto-leveling, adaptive headlights are another popular option.

For 2018, there are 12 exterior colors available. Six trims include the base, Sport, Ti, Ti Sport, Lusso, and Quadrifoglio. Two-tone color choices balance black with your pick of tan, red or ice. Dark Gray, red, green or white accent stitching is on the menu. The Ti Lusso offers a rich Crema.
