Electric Going Forward

The Tonale from Alfa Romeo is going to be a plug-in hybrid. Not everything is known yet, but details and rumors of details are trickling in as they become available. Since the plan is for Alfa Romeo to be all-electric by 2027, Tonale marks a first step along the way. The first Tonale was revealed in 2019. There will be a few changes, but the 2023 version is looking to be rather similar to the previous one.

There will be two power train options available in North America, which likely include the turbocharged 2.0 liter I-4. This means 256 hp. However, it also includes the first plug-in hybrid power train as an option. This will be a 1.5 kWh battery pack on the rear axle, which will boost the power to 272 hp. This will also boost performance across the board, giving the Tonale a 0 to 60 of around 6 seconds. You will only need a level 2 charger for this to go from empty to full in just two and a half hours.

Making the vehicle look sporty is going to be a priority for Alfa Romeo so that it has LED options as well as some damping at the four corners to keep the ride comfortable but still fast. There's also the option for an electronically adjustable suspension to maximize the comfort levels you will experience. Alfa Romeo is also saying that they will be adding special brakes that will combine mechanical and regenerative braking. This should ensure that the hybrid option is as efficient as possible while also offering top performance. The new vehicle will have a 12.3-inch digital dash and a 10.3-inch central display for the infotainment services.
