Alfa Romeo All Wheel Drive Vs. Four Wheel Drive

AWD vs 4WD - What's the Difference?

It's possible to get a plethora of features in today's vehicles. Depending on what model you're looking at, there may be the opportunity for either all-wheel drive or 4-Wheel Drive, and some people assume that these two systems are interchangeable. Still, they have very different specifications, which we'll discuss below. So, don't worry too much if it's confusing.

What is AWD?

All-wheel drive is a type of vehicle that uses the powertrain to move both front and rear wheels. There's also an option for full-time AWD, which means it will continuously provide torque in all four-wheel across your transmission shafts at once! However, this isn't always possible since there needs some traction you can count on so they don't just slide when cornering. Therefore, the part-time AWD only has two axles, but their movement capabilities still make them great options because not everyone has a perfect grip as rally racers do!

The AWD feature of the vehicle works without any input needed from you, though some models offer more control. All wheels will receive torque via differentials and clutches to function as one unit for traction on all surfaces, including snow or sand, which is perfect if your car doesn't have an off-road capability but can still handle well enough in most conditions.

What is 4WD?

If you want a four-wheel drive vehicle, then look no further than the SUVs and trucks that can provide this feature. There are differentials in each wheel, along with transfer cases to help distribute power from one side or another when needed.

4WD vehicles have been around for a long time, and they're still one of the best ways to get traction in any situation. They can also be more economical than AWD cars or trucks because you'll never need an alignment! 4 wheel drive has two different settings: full-time (which means your wheels will always turn) and part-time, which is when it's only activated while driving downhill or on wet roads. Low range works well on dirt/gravel surfaces where the high setting would help with snow, sand, and ice.
